• Back-illuminated 24.2MP12 full-frame sensor The 35 mm full-frame Exmor R™ CMOS image sensor features 24.2-megapixel12 resolution, back illumination, and gapless on-chip lens design for extraordinary sensitivity and dynamic range. Two times faster13 data readout speed is achieved through copper wires and front-end LSI.
    Steadier shots with 5-axis stabilisation

The latest high-precision stabilisation uses stabilisation unit and gyro sensors and algorithms to achieve a 5.0-step shutter speed advantage in a system that compensates five types of camera shake with a wide range of lenses, and delivers excellent performance.

AF performance is improved using the same AF advancements as in the α9 and applying it optimally, so once the α7 III captures such unpredictably moving subjects as dancers, boxers, and wild animals in action, it won’t easily let them go.

  • E-mount flexibility extended

E-mount offers unsurpassed compatibility with both Sony and third-party lenses. And for FS7 II there’s an all-new lever lock design. Simply put the lens in place and rotate the collar until it locks in place. A lens release lever provides added security. The process of switching lens can be simplified to save time. And of course, the E-mount can take cinema lenses and SLR lenses with a third-party adaptor, as well as Sony’s E-mount and A-mount lenses. Whatever your lens requirements, FS7 II has you covered.

    180fps High Frame Rates

High Frame Rate shots can turn everyday actions into slow-motion ballet, a visual feast of elegant movement. The FS7 II delivers a maximum of 180 frames per second (fps) continuous shooting in Full HD. If your project plays at the cinematic 24fps, you get beautiful 7.5x Super Slow Motion. There’s no sacrifice in bit depth and no ‘windowing’ of the sensor. So there’s no crop factor and no loss in angle of view. The camera also performs Slow and Quick (S&Q) motion from 1 to 180fps in 1fps increments. So, you can alter the narrative by selectively speeding up or slowing down the action.

    Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe

The FS7 II takes advantage of Sony’s flexible Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe, which provides power, signal connections and coordinated on/off switching to compatible Sony accessories. For example, you can connect and control Sony wireless microphone systems such as the UWP-D11 or UWP-D12 or attach the HVL-LBPC light*.

10-bit S-Log3 and HDR recording for smooth gradations

S-Log3 gamma curve and S-Gamut3.Cine enable shooting with high-quality colour reproduction over a wide dynamic range, and they make it easy to match up footage with shots from other Cinema Line cameras during post-production. In addition, an HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) HDR picture profile enables direct HDR (HLG) playback on compatible TVs with no post-production.

Enjoy rich detail and realistic colour

The FX3 is capable of 4K internal recording, 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 colour sampling with All Intra on top of Long-GOP compression. This makes it possible to push your colour grades further while still retaining natural gradation, for true editing freedom.

Fast Hybrid AF for accuracy and tenacity

The wide-area AF uses intelligent tracking and on-sensor phase-detection for tenacious subject tracking across almost the entire frame (627-point focal plane phase-detection AF covers approx. 89% of the image area). The hybrid AF system delivers precise focusing even when shooting at shallow depths of field and at 120p high frame rates in 4K (QFHD).

Real-time Eye AF and Face Detection supported

Real-time Eye AF and Face Detection ensure accurate, stable focus acquisition for interviews, events and anywhere where precise focus on people is essential. Sophisticated real-time processing realises pinpoint eye focus even when subjects are looking down or up at steep angles, allowing the operator to concentrate fully on composing the best shot.

  • 6K Full-Frame “Exmor R” sensor for stunning picture quality

The back-illuminated full-frame 6K CMOS sensor uses Sony’s Exmor R technology for improved sensitivity and reduced noise. When recording at DCI 4K*, Ultra HD resolutions the ability to oversample and capture at 6K, combined with powerful image processing, ensures that subtle details and textures beyond those that can be captured by a conventional 4K sensor are retained while at the same time noise is reduced. Compared to a 4K Super 35mm sensor, the FX9’s 6K sensor has over twice the surface area, providing a wider angle of view, making it easier to gain a shallower depth of field. You can also shoot with Super 35mm lenses without compromise, capturing at 4K in super 35mm with all the benefits of this advanced imaging sensor.
